Greater DC Cares (GDCC) is the leading coordinator of volunteerism in the Greater Washington region, tapping into our region’s most valuable resource – people who want to give their time, skills and compassion to improve lives and make the Washington area a greater place to live. While we engage thousands of volunteers in community service each year, we do not fit the traditional definition of "volunteer center." Rather than designing our programs around simply meeting the needs of our volunteers, our primary goal is to ensure that our work builds the capacity of the nonprofits we serve and has real impact on strengthening this region. We do this through traditional "hands on" volunteering, but more importantly through wide variety of service learning opportunities and skilled volunteer and leadership development programs.
