Description
The Great Burn Study Group (GBSG) is a grassroots conservation organization built from the ground up since 1971. We have thirty year’s success influencing National Forest policy through pragmatic work with citizens, elected officials, and agency decision makers. Our mission area's outstanding wildland and wildlife value is undisputed: it is the northern end of the largest complex of public wildlands and wildlife habitat in the continental United States and contains forty-two Inventoried Roadless Areas, several Research Natural Areas, seven designated or recommended Wild and Scenic Rivers and wildlife populations of elk, bears, wolves, etc...
GBSG is dedicated to achieving wilderness designation for the proposed Great Burn Wilderness and to conserving the wild and remote character of the northern Bitterroot Mountains in western Montana and northern Idaho.
