Description
The Good Food Project is a community garden project that seeks to provide our community with fresh, sustainably grown produce. We also are committed to teaching our community how to grow their own and support them as they start their own gardens!
We have a 1/3 of an acre organic garden next to the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. It is located at 3223 Baldwin Avenue in Alexandria, Louisiana.
This plot is the demonstration garden for the Good Food Project. Here, not only will we grow fresh produce for families in need, we will host sustainable gardening workshops open to the public to show people how to grow their own healthy food to supplement their diet, income and connect with the earth! We strive to grow all of our food as sustainably as possible to build our soils so that we may continue to harvest for years to come into the future.
All of the produce grown here will be donated to the Food Bank clients so that we may provide families in need in our area with fresh, nutritious produce. We grow as many different types of plants as possible ranging from annual vegetables, to perennial herbs, and even trees and shrubs. We believe that the key to a thriving garden is biodiversity, so we hope to encourage a variety of life forms to make a home in our garden!
