Description
Founded in 2005 by Dagmar Serota, Good Cents for Oakland provides service learning programming for Oakland elementary schools and pre-k programs. We teach children about issues affecting Oakland and provides them with opportunities to vote and advocate for a cause they care about. Students raise pennies and other coins (aka Good Cents) for a non-profit they interview and select, working in the City of Oakland. Since 2005, students participating in our programs have raised over $40,000 for local non-profits, including the Alameda County Community Food Bank, East Oakland Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul, Children's Hospital, East Oakland Community Project and high needs Oakland schools.
Good Cents for Oakland is a federally tax-exempt (501c3) organization.
