Global Grassroots’ purpose is to catalyze the development of conscious communities of change agents who will work independently, collectively and systemically to advance the rights and wellbeing of women. We target vulnerable women in post-conflict Africa because it is our experience that women are most invested in serving their community’s needs, and are in the greatest need of support to manifest their solutions. Currently, Global Grassroots offers conscious social change training program and seed funding to marginalized women in Rwanda, including genocide survivors, widows, women with HIV/AIDS, physically disabled women and victims of sexual assault. Since 2006, Global Grassroots has trained over 250 Rwandans who have designed 35 social projects benefiting marginalized women and girls. Over this next year, if all projects meet their objects, Global Grassroots teams will have made a measurable difference in nearly 50,000 lives.
