Description
Global African Village is an all-volunteer nonprofit that assists the impoverished Bagishu people of eastern Uganda. The Bagishu live in an isolated area, on the hilly slopes of Mt. Elgon. They lack basic necessities such as running water, electricity, and health care. Our four main projects are wells, child care, health care, and small business development
We build wells & repair existing wells & latrines. We also run a simple child care center, which about 300 children attend.
We are raising funds to build a simple health care center. Health education is acutely needed as families lose loved ones to AIDS.
In 2010, we launched the Buusale Kamani grant project to help people start small businesses to become more self-sustaining. "Buusale Kamani" is Swahili for "Friendship is Strength."
