Description

Gleanings distribution network cuts through the regulatory maze and makes available food through the "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program" (GRGP) and to other children, elderly, and working poor.

According to the 2000 census, Galveston has 800 homes alone where grandparents raising their grandchildren, and some 1800 homes throughout Galveston County.

Working in cooperation with men, women, and children we provide a box consisting of frozen meats, vegetables, fresh eggs and much more that assists in providing much needed nutritional food on a monthly bases.

In addition, Gleanings member distribution network, of Interfaith and Social Service agencies, work together as a collaborative effort to meet the needs of Galveston's children, elderly, and working poor.

According to the 1999 census, Galveston has 22.3% of its population, nearly 13,000 men, women, and children at poverty level or below.
