For almost 150 years, Girls Inc. has provided programs that support and empower girlsacross the country to reach their full potential and to grow up healthy, educated, and independent. In 2007, Girls Inc. Westchester opened its doors to fulfill that same mission here in Westchester.
Working through local schools and community organizations, GIWC provides 9-18 year-old girls with thoroughly researched and tested programs that educate them about health and sexuality, finances and goal setting, peer pressure, media pressure, violence prevention and safety, leadership skills, and so much more. Even more critically, GIWC gives girls a place where their ideas and feelings are taken seriously and where they are challenged and supported by caring peers and adults. For some girls, that makes all the difference.
