Rated “A Promising Approach” by OJJDP, Girls Circle is a gender responsive program for girls currently being utilized around the world by over 5,000 Schools, Juvenile Justice, Mental Health, Child Welfare, Public Health and Youth Serving Organizations. Research results on this 6-step group provided to girls between the ages of 9-18, in a setting of 5-10 girls for two hours a week over an 8-12 week period show:
? Significant decreases in alcohol use and self-harming behavior
? Significant increases in school bonding, communicating needs to adults, improved friendship selections and behavior, positive body image, self-efficacy, and positive peer interactions and peer satisfaction
The strengths-based, skill building approach creates a safe space for girls to address risky behaviors, build on protective factors, and improve relationships in a format that interests and engages girls.
