Green Meadows Council is one of 318 councils nationwide and provides the Girl Scout experience to over 4,100 registered Girl Scouts in Champaign, Douglas, Ford, Iroquois, Piatt and Vermilion counties. Green Meadows Council was chartered by GSUSA in 1922, and is supported by over 1100 volunteers, 9 full- time, and 1 part-time staff members, and an Executive Board of 20 community members. The Green Meadows Council operates the main service center in Urbana, and is responsible for the maintenance of four camp properties: Camp Wa Ha Na Ha in Gilman, Camp Wildwood in Indiana, Camp Trefoil in Danville, and Camp Kiwanis in Mahomet. Of the four camps, Camp Kiwanis is considered and referred to as the Green Meadows Council “jewel”. Based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, Girl Scouting is a leadership development program that develops girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
