Description
The Ginny Fund is an organization of volunteers whose primary purpose is to humanely address the plight of homeless animals in Long Beach, New York. There are no paid staff or directors. Daily care is provided to more than 250 stray or abandoned cats living in 21 feral colonies. Each cat is initially spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given any needed veterinary treatment.
Although formally established as a nonprofit in 2002, this lifesaving endeavor actually began in 1990 because of a sweet young dog named Ginny who had an extraordinary ability to find weak, sick, and handicapped felines. She helped rescue more than 900 homeless cats until her death in 2005. The people who helped Ginny fulfill her mission through the years remain very committed to this labor of love.
