We have a reading program where we give one book of the students' choice to every student at Gibraltar. It is like the RIF (Reading is Fundamental) national program, but we don't qualify for funding. The only difference is that we have to raise all the funds ourselves. We are a tourist area where the property is valuable and mostly owned by retirees who have no connection to the school. Our students are from families who are in the service business. We are in an unusual situation, and it would be nice if our students could each get a free book, as do the students in schools funded by RIF.
