Description
GLS is a not-for-profit, Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt legal aid program serving lower-income people primarily in eastern Missouri and, to a lesser extent, southern Illinois. Most of our cases help people with problems relating to Social Security disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits. We also handle a small but growing number of consumer protection matters. We normally handle cases on a reduced-fee, contingent-fee basis, with some cases (such as overpayment or termination of benefits cases) being handled without charge. We do not accept government funding, and we do not apply for grants or other traditional non-governmental sources of legal aid funding, although we do accept donations. We are designed to be self-supporting.
