Description

The Gainesville Fisher House Foundation is a grassroots organization formed to solve some of the challenges that accompany the treatment, care and recovery of wounded or injured service members or veterans here in our local area and the wider service area of the Malcom Randal VA Medical Center, ranging 50 counties. The service area of the medical center encompasses the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, which assists over 130,000 veterans each year.
A Fisher House is a “home away from home” for family members; a place they can stay to be near their wounded or ill service member or veteran at no cost to them.
The Foundation is bridging the gap in services currently available to veterans, military and their families. As a community liaison, we are fostering relationships with social, fraternal and veteran organizations to provide thousands of hours of volunteer effort on the behalf of the veterans, military and their families in North Florida and South Georgia.
