Description
The mission of Friends Outside is to assist families, prisoners, and ex prisoners with the immediate and long term effect of incarceration and to act as a bridge between those we serve, the community at large and the criminal justice system, thereby enhancing the character of justice. Friends Outside provides services inside the county jail and to individuals released from custody. Crisis intervenion is provided for familes with access to food and clothing. Home visiiting services are also provided to mothers with children under 6. Youth 7 to 17 can be part of 1 of 5 after school groups, attend summer day camp or summer school, and go on field trips. They can also access the services of the school advoocate tutors or have a mentor. 10,000 unduplicated clients are served annually. The agency has been serving the community for 51 years.
