Friends of the Ypsilanti Freighthouse


This group was formed several years ago--first in hopes of keeping our historic Freighthouse open, and later to raise funds to reopen it. The Freighthouse was built in 1878 and is listed on the State Register of Historic Places, as well as being part of the Ypsilanti Historic District, which is on the Department of the Interior's National Register of Historic Places. It was closed in 2004 due to structural and other safety issues. We need to raise a minimum of $400,000 in order to reopen it.
