Friends of Refugees is a non-profit human support services agency. It's mission is to care for refugees through relationships and opportunities that provide for their well-being, education and employment as they become contributing members of society. Every year, thousands of refugees come to the United States seeking a better life. After being forced to leave their homes and communities, many refugees arrive in the States with very little. Without money and resources, refugees must rely on human service organizations like Friends of Refugees.
Refugees are resettled in many locations around the United States. Friends of Refugees is currently serving the refugees who arrive in Clarkston, GA., which is located just east of Atlanta. Since the early 1990's, approximately 50,000 refugees have resettled in Clarkston. There are currently more than 7,000 refugees living in Clarkston with more refugees constantly on the way.
