Description
Friends of Pelham Bay Park is a committed group of volunteers who work to improve and conserve Pelham Bay Park, the largest park in New York City. Pelham Bay Park is located in the Bronx. With over 2700 acres, the park includes 13 miles of coastline, bike paths, Orchard Beach, horse trails, ball parks, a Sensory Garden for special needs children, golf courses, a mansion and the Hunter Island Sanctuary. We recruit and train volunteers to do trail work and sponsor community events at the park including EarthFest and the Bronx Native American Festival. Friends of Pelham Bay Park recently purchased 2 beach wheelchairs so disabled people can enjoy the beach on hot summer days. We are committed to making our park accessible to all.
