Description
New Orleans City Park is the largest public park in the City of New Orleans with 1300+ acres and receives a pittance for operating and capital improvements from governmental sources. They raise almost all funds for park maintenance and activities themselves, and since Hurricane Katrina, are operating on a shoestring to keep the park open. They presently have a staff of 24 (including administrative and maintenance) to handle the entire operations which include grass cutting, debris hauling, the removal of more than 1500 dead trees (from the storm), in addition to enormous clean up tasks. They need all the help that they can get!
