Description
This 501 (c)(3) agency supports programs and services to deaf and hard-of-hearing children from the age of 18 months to 22 years who attend the California School for the Deaf, Riverside. The school is a public, state run residential school serving 11 counties throughout Southern California.
Student population consists of over 51% latino children and all of CSDR's student's qualify for free meals through the state due to the low income level of the families.
More than half of the 440+ students reside on the 56-acre property coming in on Sunday afternoon and leaving for home on Friday afternoon.
All classes and meetings are conducted in American Sign Language. Teaching staff must be fluent in ASL. Support staff can be hired without knowledge of ASL, but will be provided with ASL instruction on their work time.
