Description
Friends 4 Kenya is a non-profit umbrella corporation in the United States set up to empower underprivileged, disenfranchised and HIV/AIDS affected women in Kibera (the slums of), Nairobi, Kenya. It is a self-help group and the corporation has three main goals/projects:
1. Urembo Basket House teaches women marketable skills and professional development, effecting confidence, self-sufficiency and independence. The Basket House produces exclusive, native and custom items for the global marketplace.
2. Afya Bora Women's Clinic will provide primary and OB/GYN care to the women of Kibera. The clinic will offer periodic specialty clinics with visiting professionals from the United States.
3. Mary's Place Say Care will provide a safe environment for the children of Kibera while their mothers are working. It will provide social skills and enrichment opportunities.
