Description
Since 1978, when the Great American Yankee Freedom Band first took to the streets of Hollywood to promote visibility and equal rights for Lesibian, Gay, and Transgendered people, the Freedom Band Foundation of Los Angeles has been committed to providing education, awareness and community support. Our mission is to promote greater understanding among the diverse communities of Southern California through "Music With a Purpose."
That commitment continues in 2007. The "Great American Yankee Freedom Band" thrills parade goers 28 years after its' founding. The "Hollywood Wind Ensemble" presents classics of concert band literature, the best of modern band compositions as well as popular tunes. The "Brigade Brass Band" re-creates the look and sound of a Civil War era Brass Band. In addition, the foundation sponsors the "James M. Berg Schlorship Program" in the performing arts.
