Description
For 20 years, the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Inc. has been bringing together community resources to ensure a quality education for every student. The Foundation provides more than $1 million annually to schools in the 11th largest public school district in the nation. We support more than 178,000 students and 12,000 teachers in 172 schools across Central Florida. The district is composed of urban and suburban schools with a highly diverse student population, representing 179 countries and 137 languages. Our core programs include a grass-roots, citizen-based initiative creating greater public demand for quality education for all children; a school-based program addressing student academic and social development with emphasis on building community support: a mentoring/tutoring program providing volunteers to low-achieving students in second grade; and awarding over $200,000 in grants per year to classroom teachers for supplies, equipment, and special projects.
