Description
Forward in Health is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health conditions and dignity of the people in and around Les Cayes, Haiti. This is accomplished by caring, well-trained medical and nonmedical people working with the local medical institutions in Les Cayes. Services provided include maternal-child, general medical, and HIV prenatal screening.
Why Haiti? Because the Haitian people experience a level of poverty unknown in the United States -- a poverty that causes severe illness and death. The lack of food, clean water and basic medical care leads to a level of desperation we seek to help relieve. A child with an ear infection, pneumonia or appendicitis has no access to medical treatment. Forward in Health, whose participants have been traveling to Haiti for six years to provide medical clinics, is especially qualified to respond to these needs.
