Description
The Florida Wild Mammal Association (FWMA) was established in 1994 to rescue, rehabilitate, and release the sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in Wakulla and the surrounding counties. The other main focus has been public education on wildlife issues.
The Florida Wild Mammal Association (FWMA) suffered a fire on the property on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. The fire was contained to one building. The humans and all the rescue animals were unhurt, but sadly, the Beatty family's home is a total loss and three beloved dogs perished in the blaze. Some rescue animals remain on the property, while others are being housed by volunteers as needed until the property is ready to receive them back.
