Description

Floresta is a nonprofit relief and development agency working to promote environmental restoration and create sustainable agriculture in developing countries. With an emphasis on reforestation, agroforestry, and economic development, Floresta empowers communities to free themselves from a vicious cycle of environmental destruction and poverty. Because these two issues are so closely intertwined, the key to Floresta’s solutions lies in creating a mutually beneficial, “virtuous cycle” that revives the economy while regenerating the environment. Therefore, our programs are comprised of interlocking elements designed to simultaneously promote self-sufficiency and responsible environmental stewardship, and include community development, innovative agriculture, reforestation efforts, and micro-enterprise credit systems.
