Description
It is the intent of Flamingo Gardens to depict and maintain for posterity the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida and the Everglades by preserving and displaying, in a living museum, an outstanding collection of tropical and sub-tropical plants, animals native to the area presented in natural habitats, and cultural artifacts of early South Florida settlers and native peoples. These exhibits are maintained and presented in order to encourage environmental awareness in visiting tourists, area residents and school children, with a mission to increase knowledge and interest in the agricultural and horticultural history of our region; to provide a repository for endangered plant and bird species and a living library of specific plants and animals available for research and education; and to breed and release native South Florida animals into the wild.
