Description
It is the mission of First Place to support youth in their transition from foster care to successful adulthood by promoting choices and strengthening individual and community resources. We fulfill this mission through three programs:
•Supported Housing Program (SHP): The objective of SHP, also known as the Healthy Transitions Project, is to provide emancipated foster youth with access to safe, affordable housing, where they have the opportunity to develop and practice life skills to achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
•Emancipation Training Center (ETC): Services include therapeutic case management, emancipation planning, housing search assistance, emergency food vouchers, emergency utility assistance, computers, recreational activities and educational resources.
•Emancipation Specialist Program (ESP): The Emancipation Specialist Program is staffed by specialists who provide intensive case management to 45 at-risk youth who are within two years of “aging out” of foster care.
