It is the mission of First Place to help foster youth build the skills they need to make a successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood. We fulfill this mission through three programs:
•My First Place provides stability for transition age foster youth through safe, permanent, affordable housing; intensive case management; and advocacy and support services.
•Steps to Success provides youth with one-on-one support in achieving their education goals, obtaining a high school diploma or GED certificate and enrolling in post-secondary employment.
•ILSP/First Foundation provides guidance and stability to youth within two years of aging out of the foster care system who are living in group homes.
•First Steps Community Resource Center in downtown Oakland provides housing referrals, educational and employment support, and community resources for current and former foster and homeless youth.
