Description
Since its founding in 1935, Fedcap has been a leader in creating and promoting training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, those receiving public assistance, displaced workers, and others who face barriers to employment. The organization was established by disabled WWI veterans who believed that individuals with physical or other limitations could lead self-sufficient lives and be an integral part of the workforce; an idea that went contrary to the widely held opinion of the day.
Today, Fedcap programs assist more than 2,500 New Yorkers each year to overcome obstacles to employment, through a comprehensive range of vocational and support services, furthering the organization’s mission of helping each person obtain the skills necessary to be an independent member of the community and the workforce.
