The staff at Jean Farb Middle School embrace the philosophy that students make their best progress in an atmosphere where academic achievement is a priority and where students are physically and psychologically safe from harm and are responsible for their behavior. Farb's teaching staff is strong and supportive of making changes that support student achievement. As the first all-AVID school in the San Diego Unified School District Farb's staff is constantly defining high academic standards and creating a learning environment that promotes success for all students.
Our school goals include increasing the amount of reading and writing in all classes, as well as the use of manipulatives and replacement units and the incorporation of writing and problem-solving skills in mathematics classes; developing schoolwide multicultural activities to foster student awareness of cultural differences, increasing positive peer relationships, and expanding our program of parent involvement.
