Family homelessness is a growing problem in our community and nation – currently, 40% of the homeless population in the US is families with children. Many of today’s homeless people are families caught between high housing costs and low wages. Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region is trying to help reduce the impact of homelessness on children. We collaborate with community partners and local congregations to help some of these families get back on their feet and into housing of their own.
Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region is a program for homeless families whose mission is to help homeless families achieve independence, to provide congregations with a variety of mission opportunities, to create initiatives that meet community needs, to give volunteers of all ages a meaningful way to help those in need, and to build public awareness of homelessness and the needs of low-income people.
