Faith in Action of Hendricks County, Indiana, helps people in the community who are homebound because of their long-term health needs. Volunteer caregivers help their neighbors accomplish everyday tasks, enabling them to continue living independently in their own homes. Some of the folks receiving care have chronic illnesses such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, or kidney disease; permanent disabilities; and some are simply struggling with the frailties of old age. Faith in Action volunteers provide compassionate care by visiting neighbors who are lonely; offering transportation to medical appointments; helping with errands such as grocery shopping and picking up prescriptions; assisting with light housework and meal preparation; and providing respite to families caring for their loved ones.
