The English-Speaking Union of the United States (ESU ) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical membership organization, whose mission is to promote the English language as a singularly effective tool for educating people of all ages, ethnicities, and nationalities in all walks of life to become articulate, thoughtful, literate, and productive citizens of the United States, of other nations, and the world. The ESU encourages people of all cultures and languages to understand one another through educational, cultural, and social programs. These diverse activities bring people around the world together through the beauty and the power of written and spoken English.
