Description
An HIV/AIDS education prevention program in Thika District, Kenya. The HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Initiative was built on the belief that an individual’s commitment to abstinence before marriage is the only guaranteed prevention of sexually transmitted HIV/AIDS.
Because of the on-going severity of this pandemic, grandparents,care for their own children dying from AIDS. They are now attempting to raise their children’s children with no resources.To come alongside these selfless and brave women, EWO launched the E.G.G.S. Initiative, a self-sustaining, income-generating opportunity for grandmothers in Mangu, Kenya.
Empower established this project by distributing poultry and chicken feed to two grandmothers. As the flocks matured and increased, the grandmothers were able to feed their orphans eggs and share with others. Over sixty (60) grandmothers are now participating in this project and feeding over 250 orphans.
