Description

El Puente - The Bridge serves mainly indigenous children and their families in Costa Rica. In 2013, we put 142 children in 17 schools in Costa Rica and 5 in Panama. Our goal is to "help them help themselves to self-sufficiency". The people we serve are living under the World Bank definition of poverty - less than $2 a day family income. We pay the expenses of putting a child in school for each year thru our School Program. We help a family with income generation through our Microloan Program. We assist families with food by serving healthy meals at our Community Kitchen. By making their successes, and the possibility of their success, visible, we give them Hope - an essential ingredient to breaking the cycle of poverty. We pay all overhead of the organization using personal funds of the Founders, so 100% of any money that is donated goes into our Programs. El Puente is a non-profit organization, under the Centers For Spiritual Living, based in Golden, Colorado.
