Description

The East Texas Fine Arts Education Project (ETFAEP) mission is: 1) to strengthen elementary education by expanding opportunities available to East Texas public school students, 2) to provide certified Fine Arts educators and an innovative Fine Arts curriculum based on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to schools struggling to find time and money to offer Fine Arts education, and 3) to use the Fine Arts to bridge the cultural divide in East Texas schools, while creating global citizens. Federal and state mandates on funding and time required for Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test preparation limits school budgets and available time. The result is the removal of Fine Arts programs from many schools’ curriculum. ETFAEP proposes a unique model for schools to reintroduce Fine Arts into their curriculum by providing assistance in funding the employment of educators and implementing ETFAEP’s curriculum as a tool bridging the cultural divide in our classrooms.
