MISSION - The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) is a nonprofit organization with a regional mission to preserve, interpret and promote the history of Tennessee, focusing on East Tennessee in order to educate and connect the region, its people, history, culture and heritage. ETHS has approximately 2,200 members, subscribers and exchanges nationwide plus more than 40 regional affiliate chapters (local historical & genealogical groups). ETHS is administered by a volunteer board of directors, has an annual operating budget of approximately $600,000, and has a staff of six full-time and six part-time employees. ETHS proudly serves 35 counties in East Tennessee.
