Description
For 48 years the East Harlem Tutorial Program has been a pioneer in the field of after-school education. Our programs operate within a youth development framework, with the conviction that learning happens best in caring, engaging environments. Understanding that all children have unique talents, interests and learning styles, we work with parents, teachers and children to design a program tailored to individual academic, creative and developmental needs. One-on-one tutoring has long been a hallmark of the EHTP experience and remains a critical part of a larger strategy to provide comprehensive educational enrichment programs and age appropriate activities that support the development of children and young adults. To ensure that each child has a strong circle of support, EHTP also provide social services and programs for families. Each year more than 750 children and over 250 volunteers participate in our programs at multiple sites in East Harlem.
