East African Community Services (EACS) is an inclusive organization that is dedicated to improve the well-being and quality of life for refugees and their families in Washington's King County and to encourage the preservation of their diverse cultural heritages.
Since early 2000, when it was started by four Somali refugees, EACS has been providing services to many of the over 20,000 Somali and East African refugees in the King County area. Throughout this time, EACS has established a strong record of service in the King County, easing the cultural shock of refugees throughout the area through culturally specific advocacy, information, referral, and direct service. EACS has a clear understanding of the needs of its clients, a high level of trust in the community, and a high profile presence within the East African population in the King County.
