Grantmaking is the single largest activity of the Dutchess County Arts Council. Both staff and board members not only raise funds for these programs from a wide array of sources, but they also develop guidelines, market the opportunities to the public, recruit community review panelists, oversee evaluation and award allocations, as well as tracking funded programs to ensure success. These competitive grants are awarded to individual artists, schools, community groups, and arts organizations through seven different categories: Funded and Supported Members of the Arts Fund, Project Grants in Dutchess and Ulster Counties, Ulster County Cultural Services and Promotion Awards, and Arts in Education grants for Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Funds for these programs come from the New York State Council on the Arts, Dutchess County and Ulster County, as well as from corporate sponsors and Individual donors.
