I would like to introduce you to Drive Safe Kalamazoo (DSK), a non-profit; student ran organization at Western Michigan University. Drive Safe Kalamazoo provides a safe, non-judgmental ride HOME to Western Michigan University students on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights between the hours of 11pm and 3am.
Our organization is fully run by students who volunteer their time. The executive board secures funds and takes measures to ensure DSK is running. Along with the executive board, there are members that volunteer at least two nights a month from 10 pm until all the rides are taken home for the night which, on average is about 4 am.
Since the formation of this program in September 2003, DSK has provided over 30,000 rides home to students who otherwise might have drove drunk. The impact of our organization has been immeasurable, but we would appreciate your help to keep our organization running.
