Description
Parents of Children with Down Syndrome, (PCDS), began in the fall of 1988 by a group of Oakland County parents who shared some comon concerns
and wanted to provide mutual support to parents and their family members.
The mission of our 501 (c) 93) organization is to provide suport, resources and advocacy with the aim of increasing awareness and opportunities for
individuals with Down syndrome, their families and
caregivers.
PCDS provides the following services to families:
* Therapeutic and recretational programs for indivviduals with Down syndrome
* New parent resource packets and support groups
* Educational conferences, seminars and monthl
newsletter.
* Resource Lending Library
* Social activities, i.e. Playgroup, BUddy Club, Teen
Activities, Summer Picnic, Holiday party, Mom's Night Out, etc.)
* Speakers for groups interesed in learning more about Down Syndrome
