Description
Douglass Community Services’ (DCS) mission of building stronger communities by helping people help themselves was established almost 39 years ago. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) came under the DCS umbrella in 1973. RSVP serves a seven county area: Marion, Ralls, Monroe, Shelby, Lewis, Pike and Randolph. RSVP engages people age 55 and older in volunteer services to their local communities and matches volunteers’ personal interests, skills, and lifelong experiences to projects and organizations that meet significant needs. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to volunteering in hospital gift shops, food pantries, thrift stores, museums, educational facilities, and delivering meals and books to homebound residents. local program involves almost 400 volunteers who contribute nearly 50,000 hours of community service annually.
