Description
Dogs for Diabetics (D4D) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation that provides high quality medical-alert service dogs to youth and adults who are Type I, insulin-dependent diabetics, through a program of training, placement and follow up services. D4D is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI), which is an oversight body that sets standards and performance requirements for assistance dog organizations.
Medical-alert, service dogs for diabetics is a new and innovative service that is being recognized by the diabetic community and doctors around the world. The dogs are trained to identify the onset of hypoglycemia, a disabling condition which can cause confusion, disorientation, and weakness in minutes, and lead to coma and death in hours. D4D is the only fully-accredited service dog provider training dogs solely for this purpose.
