Personalized Learning is the mission of Desert Sands Charter High School, Inc., a public non-profit charter high school of choice targeting the needs of 1,200 "at-need" students ages 14-21 that thrive with one-to-one teaching. DSCHS has raised the real graduation rate of the local district by 7% since its charter began.
We identify every standard each student doesn't know, going back to 2nd grade, using Scantron diagnostic tests. We tutor students to those specific Standards to avoid boring them with material they already know. Students study only one subject at a time, and study one credit worth of homework per week. Students have specific appointments with their teacher. Students must pass a test on the work assigned at 60% or must redo all the homework with further instruction. DSCHS does not allow a student to fail for more than a week, not semesters nor years. To fulfil this need we could use your support to pay for more tutors and teacher time.
