Description
Our mission is to excite and inform people about the natural world through exploration and discovery, with the purpose of helping to develop a caring society that respects and values our planet. We envision all parents and teachers in the region considering DMNH as an essential element in every child's development. Annually, 75,000+ visitors explore an African watering hole, view shells from around the globe, eye Delaware's only permanent dinosaur collection, and experience interactive exhibits that change several times a year. Scientists worldwide depend on our world-class collections of mollusks and birds to inform their research.
Approx. 20,000 children and adults benefit annually from the Museum's education and outreach programs, Homeschool classes, teacher training, Boy/Girl Scout merit badge sessions, summer day camp, and themed activity days. Annually, DMNH’s Education Fund makes it possible for thousands of disadvantaged students to participate with their classmates.
