Description

DC Arts & Humanities Education Collaborative (DC Collaborative) was founded in 1998 by representatives of DC's public & chartered public schools, local arts organizations & funders who recognized that DC’s rich cultural resources were not accessible to all public school students & teachers, especially those in economically challenged neighborhoods. Our mission is to strengthen & promote the arts & humanities as basic & integral to a high-quality education for all students in DC for the growth of the whole child. We serve more than 45,000 DC students annually. With more than 80 cultural organizations that compose our membership, we strengthen partnerships between cultural organizations & DC schools; provide students access to arts learning & experiences; provide professional development in the arts & humanities; disseminate info on local cultural resources; provide resources for teachers & schools to integrate the arts into the curriculum; & increase public awareness of arts education.
