Dancing Classrooms, founded in 1994, is an Arts in Education program integrated into the upper elementary curricula of participating New York City schools that has begun to franchise nation-wide in cities like Newark, Philadelphia, and Fort Worth, among others.
Each year, Dancing Classrooms sends trained teaching artists into NYC’s public schools to bring fifth and eighth grade students not only the fundamentals of ballroom dances like tango, swing, foxtrot, and merengue, but also discipline, self-esteem, elegance, and poise.
