Description

Curley’s House of Style, Inc/Hope Relief Bank is a 501 (c) (3), tax exempt, non-profit organization established in Miami, Florida August 2001. The organization is housed at 6025 NW 6TH COURT. The mission is to improve the quality of life for low to moderate income individuals, families, the elderly, the homebound, the abused, HIV/AIDS infected, youth, and youth at risk.
The program is in extremely high demand as it provides bulk food product to these needy residents and serves as a neighborhood outreach effort. The program supplements low income family food budgets with boxes of food that ensure their nutrition for the remainder of the month. Curley’s House also provides emergency food items prior to and after a disaster and makes emergency shelter referrals through effective partnerships with a local network of Provider CBO and county agencies. The organization provides services through our Emergency Relief efforts through the hurricanes and bad weather conditions and is registered as a disaster relief site in the Model City/Liberty City area and are partners with the American Red Cross as an emergency distribution site.
The target population is low-income, seniors, veterans, and families living in the areas of Miami- Dade County and as far as West Palm Beach. Curley’s House serves these individuals when they are unable to get assistance from other agencies. Participating seniors have been productive citizens all of their lives and should not have to be making a choice of whether to buy medicine, pay rent, or buy food. Curley’s House therefore provides them with bulk food products, nutritional health flyers on diabetes, hypertension, colon cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and high blood pressure.
Since its inception Curley’s House has fed and clothed over 750,000 needy individuals and families throughout Miami Dade County. Currently CURLEY’S HOUSE has registered over 20,000 clients. The organization receives financial support through donations and in-kind resources.
Currently the organization distributes food on a daily basis for registered clients and walk- ins (not registered) who is in need of food. CURLEY’S HOUSE feeds the community by hosting special events, sporting events, walk-a- thons and activities during holidays. Staff travels throughout the county to provide supplemental food items to those in need, either at events and at social functions. Curley’s House is currently collaborating with a new local health clinic Star Medical Center to encourage residents
to eat healthier and learn what is more healthy for them in order to combat and prevent diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, colon cancer, prostate cancer and diseases that are dominant in African American cultures.
