Our mission is to improve the lives of families through child care services, research and advocacy. Since 1980, we have worked to help poor, working poor and working families achieve economic self-sufficiency by helping them find and pay for child care. We also work with child care providers to enhance the quality of their care and we administer programs that focus on children's health and wellness.
Most of our families earn at or below the federal poverty level and need child care services so that they can go to school and/or look for employment.
Child care is the glue that keeps families working. We work to encourage policies that address the financial hardships quality child care can place on a family, and make child care affordable for all families.
We also operate SAGE Child Care Center. SAGE is located in Watts and is an oasis for African-American and Latino children who want and deserve to be in a positive learning environment.
